10 Months Old

DSC_0102

Joycie,

You are now 10 months old! Wow, it is hard to believe that just a year ago Daddy and I were putting the finishing touches on your nursery and counting the weeks until your arrival. Now, we are counting the weeks until your 1st birthday.  Here are your stats for the month:

•You weigh 22 pounds. I can not get an accurate measurement of your length, because you are too wiggly.

•You are now in size 3 diapers.

•You are now wearing clothing sized 12 months.

This month you went from crawling in small bursts to crawling everywhere. Mama and Daddy have to pay close attention to you or you will crawl into the kitchen and we find this:

DSC_0124 You are fascinated with our kitchen cabinets and want to take everything out of them. However, Mama does not like it, so it is a constant battle of wills. Normally, you are content with a pot and wooden spoon to bang on the pot. But some days, you throw a fit if you are not allowed into the cabinets.

You are also starting to stand unassisted for longer and longer periods of time. And you will pull up on any piece of furniture and step side to side to navigate around a room. We have a feeling that you are going to be walking soon (too soon I’m afraid).

You love to give kisses to everyone – especially the baby doll that Aunt Jess Walden got you for Christmas.  And you adore playing with your cousins.

Each day, you are learning, growing, and changing. We love watching your personality develop more and more. Joycie, you are a blessing to us and we love you bunches!

I'm sure someone else has already shared this idea but . . . child lock your cabinets/drawers but leave 1 open with items that Joycie can play with--a pot & wooden spoon, plastic bowls & lids to stack, maybe a little dish cloth. Preferably a cabinet that is away from the stove & fridge. This is great fun for little ones and can actually keep them safely entertained and in sight when you're cooking or washing dishes. My kids loved playing with cooking pots, etc. Most kids do and it is very good developmental play--just make it safe for them.
