I had my first ultrasound today. At a mere 5 weeks and 5 days, we were not able to see/hear a heartbeat, but we did get a clear picture of the gestational sac and teeny tiny "grain of rice" that is our baby.
Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers over the next few weeks, as this is a time when the risk of miscarriage is great. Another ultrasound is scheduled for 7/23 at which time we hope to hear that magic sound.

Congratulations! How exciting. Please know that God brings these babies in His timing so even though YOU were'nt planning to get pregnant right now, God was planning for this new life right now. Please do not EVER doubt that--no matter what! With our modern technology, birth control, fertility kits, etc. we so arrogantly think that we are in control of when these babies come, but we're not. He is; and thank goodness for that. His wisdom, unconditional love, and grace is the only real promise we can every totally hold on to and trust! Congratulations on becoming parents--that baby inside you has already made you and M a mom and dad! Welcome to the ride of your life!!!
You will, of course, be sitting/lying for the sonogram, but tell Mikey to be sure he is sitting too when they do it. Hearing that whoosh-whoosh-whoosh sound and knowing it's the heartbeat of your child will make one weak in the knees.
