The Pledge I took today....

Many of my readers know that I once battled with an eating disorder. I would be remiss if I didn't say that I worried the changes to my body that pregnacy will bring would serve as a catalyst to revive my eating disorder. But it is a tiny fear, I know now that my worth is defined not by the number on the scale, the size of my jeans, or how "skinny" I appear to people - rather it is defined by how I treat myself, and in turn how I treat others.

Therefore I was extremely excited to find this pledge today. And even happier to make the pledge - for myself, for my husband, and for my child.

That is sweet and a smart thing to do. Best wishes to you on enjoying your pregnancy and keeping true to your pledge. :)

I just saw your comment on my blog. Now we both have little bloggy world pregnant partners. How fun! I agree with the comment from Kathie; I never feel as beautiful as when I am pregnant. I hope you feel the same way. There is just something magical about having that belly because of a baby!
And after reading your recipe on brussel sprouts, you now have me craving them. Thanks!

I gained about 40 pounds with my pregnancy. I ate healthy, for the most part, but I also cut myself some definite slack. I had a serious craving for anything salty the entire 9 months. I hadn't had Big Macs in YEARS and yet... I could have lived off of them while I was pregnant. I didn't give in to that craving every time, but occassionally, if I wanted a Big Mac...I got a Big Mac! Or McDonalds fries...yum!!

Anyway, my point is, I left the hospital about 15 lbs lighter than when I went in, and three months later, I've dropped another 13 lbs, just breastfeeding and walking. So my piece of advice is, allow yourself to indulge occassionally (you more than deserve it!), and don't pay attention to the number on the scale. It's all part of the ride.
